U.S. Passport Mess
Undoubtedly, you have heard recently
about the delays travelers have experienced in obtaining a U.S.
Passport. It is taking 10-12 weeks even now for travelers to get
their passport according to the U.S. Department of State's Passport
site on the Internet. Some of our clients who applied in March have
not yet received their passports.
On June 8, the State Department announced a travel accommodation:
"U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or countries in
the Caribbean region who have applied for, but not yet received
passports, can re-enter the United States by air by presentation of
a government issued photo identification and Department of State
official proof of application for a passport through September 30,
2007." This accommodation is designed to relieve the huge backlog
and unprecedented demand for new U.S. passports.
Since all international travel will soon require a passport,
we strongly recommend that our clients obtain a passport as soon as
possible. If you anticipate traveling in 2008, you should apply for
a passport now.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please give us a
call at 301-662-8080.

expect from the travel experts at Antietam Travel Service, Inc.
